Don't Drink and Drive This Holiday Season

December 7, 2017

With the coming holiday season Charlottetown Police Services would like to warn the motoring public that if you plan to drink and get behind the wheel of a vehicle, the Police are determined to get you off the road. Charlottetown Police are ramping up for the Christmas checkstop season, and will be heading out to remove drunk drivers from P.E.I. roads.

If your festivities involve alcohol, arrange for a designated driver or use other safe options to get home safely—call a taxi, or call a sober friend. Charlottetown Police don’t want to have any family suffer the tragic loss of a loved one at the hand of an impaired driver this holiday season.

Police also ask the public for their continued support in reporting impaired driving for and to be on the lookout for the following possible signs of impaired driving; vehicles making exceptionally wide turns, drifting in and out of lanes, tailgating, changing lanes frequently, and disregarding signals and lights. Drivers are advised to pull over safely, call 911 and provide a description of the vehicle.
